Found in Matebe island at the mouth of Congo river.
Origin: 
Using the Angolan Sanga as the basis, and blood from European breeds like Hereford, Davon, Friesisn, Shorthorn, Belgian and lately the Africander, the Mateba breed has been developed by Belgian colonizers from about 1889. In 1984 Davons were again imported, but later the Africander became the most influential (Felius, 1995).
