Abidi; Ebeidi, Ibidi.
It is large animal with estimated live weight of about 60 kg. The colour is white, usually with a brown head, but it sometimes has a black fleece. Rams are horned; ewes are usually polled but some have small horns. The tail is triangular and relatively thin, reachinh to the hocka or below (Mason, 1967).
This breed is found only in the area around Beni-Ibedi near El Minya in Upper Egypt.
This breed is named after the village of Beni Abid (Ibeid) in Minieh Province, and this may indicate origin of the present-day populations; the breed resembles the Ossimi, suggesting possible contribution of this breed in its derivation mason, 1967).
